What are healthy snacks?
It is often thought that snacks are only for children, but it is time to give it the recognition it deserves because well-designed sandwiches can be wholesome, healthy and delicious.
A snack is little underrated in the kitchen. It is treated as an inferior dish, sometimes destined, almost exclusively, for the lunches and snacks for children, when in reality it gives us thousands of options in terms of flavours for all tastes. Snacks also have the advantage of being easier to make than other meals and at a lower cost. It is a resource that we can use for getaway trips to the beach or the mountains, where we want to carry light luggage not bothering ourselves much with food. It’s also used at work to maintain high energy levels during the workday. Informal dinner with friends after a long afternoon is also a good occasion to enjoy delicious snacks.
Are healthy snacks really healthy?
If you want a healthy snack, you have to follow some instructions, such as:
- The first thing is to use a slice of good whole wheat bread.
- Add proteins like eggs, breast, cheese, tofu, tuna, salmon
- Don’t forget vegetables. They can be fresh like lettuce, tomatoes, lamb’s lettuce. You can add them cooked, baked or grilled.
- A source of fat. We will always recommend the use of a good extra virgin olive oil, but we can also add other foods with healthy fats like avocado.
Healthy snacks help lose weight
Staying well-nourished throughout the day is beneficial for our health, but it also keeps our energy and concentration at optimal levels to function well during the day. To carry out this, it is necessary to add to breakfast, lunch and dinner, a mid-morning snack and another mid-afternoon snack, the latter better known as a snack. 1. Yoghurt with almonds
It is a good alternative to eat in the afternoon. These combined foods provide a good mix of carbohydrates, proteins, and monounsaturated fats, known as healthy fats. The almond provides a high content of oleic acid, a type of monounsaturated fatty acid belonging to the Omega-9 group. A skimmed yoghurt mixed with a tablespoon of almonds will be enough to eat a full snack that does not exceed 200 calories. You can sweeten the yoghurt using honey to avoid the harmful effects of refined sugar. It’s one of the best healthy sweet snacks. If you aim for healthy sugar-free snacks, just skip the honey.
2. Hard-boiled eggs filled with hummus
Eggs are a great source of protein, and it is possible to combine them with hummus for a delicious and nutritious snack. To prepare the eggs with hummus, you simply have to cook two hard-boiled eggs and, once prepared, supply the yolks with a few tablespoons of hummus. It’s one of the healthy protein snacks to include in your diet. Additionally, it’s listed among the most delicious bodybuilding snacks, as it’s rich both in protein and flavour.
